About me My name is Anne Timbs. I have been a teacher since 1996 and a librarian since 2001. After attending King College in Bristol, TN for two years I transferred to Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where I received my Bachelor of Science in Education. My major was Elementary Education with a concentration in English. I am certified to teach grades 1-8. I have a Master's Degree from East Tennessee State University (Johnson City, TN) in Instructional Media, with K-12 Librarian certification, and an additional 30 hours in Technology, Reading, and Library Science from the University of Phoenix.
As a classroom teacher I taught both self-contained and subject-specific (Language Arts) classes in grades 4, 5, and 6. As a librarian I have students in PreK through 6th grade. I began my library career traveling between two schools. I closed down the libraries at those two schools and opened a new school library in 2002, implementing it's first automation system, Follett's Circ+. Eight years later I was fortunate to transition to Follett's Destiny Automation System. I also served as site technology coordinator since 2001, trouble-shooting tech issues throughout the school and managing the school website. I became an Exemplary Educator for SMART Technologies in 2005 and received extensive SMART Board training in Dallas, TX. In 2013 I was selected to be an English/ Language Arts Common Core Coach for the State of Tennessee. I trained 4th and 5th grade teachers in the implementation of the standards, and at the same time met so many amazing educators from across the state. You may contact me at [email protected]. I attended King College (now King University) for two years where I met my husband. We have two children who attend the University of Tennessee. We also have two cats. We love to take cruises, trips to Walt Disney World and anywhere else we can go. I enjoy reading. My favorite fiction authors are Nicholas Sparks and Adriana Trigiani. One of the greatest things about living in the mountains of East Tennessee is the fact that we have four beautiful and distinct seasons. Each one brings with it excellent days to sit down with a good book, whether it be sitting by the pool in the summer, curled up with a hot tea on a rainy spring or fall day, or in front of the fire watching a winter snow. This is also a beautiful area for hiking and just enjoying the outdoors which I try to do as much as possible. |
